Habakkuk was a praying prophet, and as we read the text we see the depth of the prophet’s extended conversation, as he speaks with and listens to God. Habakkuk says in Chapter 1:1 “How long, O Lord, must I call for help?”
This is an obvious cry for help, a desperation for aid to be sent his way. Many times, we find ourselves crying out to God in desperation for answers. We become impatient, anxious for assistance with whatever need or desire perplexed us. All in all, we, like Habakkuk become increasingly distressed in our efforts to comprehend a plan so much greater than we can imagine. As we continue in the book of Habakkuk, we find in chapter 2 that there are several actions Habakkuk performed in his waiting.
Here are some of the actions Habakkuk took while he waited:
In conclusion, as a result of Habakkuk’s waiting, he learned to trust in God and stand confidently on His promise. The Lord responded to Habakkuk with instruction and words of reassurance that He has it under control. Let us remember that although He sometimes does not come when we want Him to, He is ALWAYS ON TIME!
